Insurance Companies: Friend or Foe?
You pay your premiums for years, but when the time comes that you need to make a claim against your own insurance (homeowners, uninsured motorist coverage, renters insurance) and they don’t treat you fairly, that’s called Bad Faith.
The expression comes from the duties the insurance company has to their insureds. Among those duties is the duty of good faith and fair dealing. It doesn’t mean that they have to ignore their own business sense and pay whatever you ask for, but it does mean that they have to treat you respectfully, consider your interests on the same level they consider their own and many other things.
If you feel like your insurance company is mistreating you regarding your claim, give us a call to talk about your options.
